During her time at WVWC, Kelsie synthesized carbon monoxide releasing molecules with interesting therapeutic applications under the supervision of Prof. Joanna R. Webb. Outside of Wesleyan, she prepared high density foam samples for the deactivation and decommission of radioactive waste for Dr. Aaron L. Washington, II, PMP, who leads the Advanced Characterization and Processing Group at the Savannah River National Laboratory.  In addition, she participated in an REU at West Virginia University synthesizing natural product indole derivatives for Prof. Björn Söderberg. Her thesis work in the Gilliard lab focuses on the synthesis of novel hybrid inorganic-organic molecules for materials applications.
